Changing distributors in the '90 302 we are rebuilding. This is a roller cam engine. We ordered a gear for a '90 302. Is it safe to assume that it is a steel gear and not cast iron???
Not really, because both roller and non-roller engines were built in that year. If you didn't specify an H.O roller motor, you'll probably get the cast non-roller gear. But maybe you'll get lucky...!
We ordered it for the '90 Merc. It is a very dark, almost black. Kinda of leery the way it looked and felt, that's why I asked. Think I'll just order one of the Crane/Jegs after-market steel gears just to be safe!!!
