I've seen the repops from most suppliers inc Mf's, Carp, SVF, and about a dozen re-platers like Bumper Boys etc. I have walked away from them due to wavy chrome, and the fact that some are stamped in China which I avoid like the plague. I will send mine to Idaho for a custom plating if I even decide to go with chrome. Mono is still an option for me.
I wouldn't buy one unless it was in my hands for inspection first. The aftermarket stuff is often real stingy on the chrome. Check the edges and backside. Especially if you live in a humid area. The one I looked at appeared to be a decent stamping though.
PIEF55 bought one of the import repops at the Supernats. The finish is a little wavy. It is not centered in the grill opening and he had trouble getting the headlight rings to fit right.
Thanks, that is kind of what I expected. I,m going to have to look for an original I guess. I have one that is beat up and I will see if it is feasible to staighten and rechrome. Wayne
