First mod...

Deciding between muffler (not a whole cat back system) or 2" leveling kit. I did a whole cat back system on my previous truck (02 excab Silverado), and really saw no benefit from it other than sound (SI/DO - mandrel bent pipes - 40 series Flows - tips). I have cut it down now between Magnaflow and Borla, but just as a piece-in with the factory set-up, and maybe an el cheapo tip (Advance autoparts 3A resonated stainless tip).

or

An autospring 2" leveling kit from Ebay...I think a buddy ans I could put it on in an hour or so, and then I'd just need to get an alignment done.

The muffler for sound (and maybe a minimal preformance gain) or the leveling kit for looks??? I know, I know, do BOTH! That's not gonna happen; so which one first?

after a quick lil Ebay search...

Magnaflow looks to be around $75 and Borla $90...I've not heard either on a 5.4L 3V, but have heard both on different vehicles, and think either sounds better than the 2 chamber Flowmaster I had on my previous truck...any thoughts on the 2 sound wise on my truck???

Ok, this will be my first "real" mod...I do have an Undercover bed lid, a Ford "F150" bugshield, and an amped Bazooka from my last truck (works well in the extra space of my Reg. Cab). Admittedly, I'm not the biggest "truck nut" out there, but I do like my 04 FX4, and would like to do a little to it to like it even more. As for the reluctance to completely mod out this truck...well, I have another addiction that is a money pit, so I can't throw a buncha cash into the truck whenever I feel like it. Sorry, I felt as if I needed to explain the choosing mods to you guys who seem to just try different auto related things at will...maybe my honesty will garner a few reponses. Thanks

I have a 04 FX4 scab as well. So far I've swapped the factory cloth seat covers (grey) for black leather. The factory 17" rims for a set of Lariat 18" w/275/65 rugged trails. I've added a 2" autospring leveling kit. And a 40 seires delta flow single in and single out keeping the factory tail pipe. I've also put on a stainless rocker molding kit. My truck is True Blue, no two tone. It looks and rides great......

thanks for the replies...

I was leaning towards the muffler first, but it seems that everyone that has a leveling kit likes it. I do think it'll look alot better with one...my wife just shakes her head when I bring it up, but she has every available option on her vehicle, so what can she say (I mean, heated seats...I'll never have that in a truck of mine - lol). The only options that came on my truck were the 18s, tow package, and the mirrors (auto dimmer and turn signal). So a couple of aftermarket upgrades SHOULD be in order

Maybe consider Bassani muffler. I have heard nothing but praise about this muffler. WheelMA1 has a clip you could listen to. Good Luck!
