sliding axle?
While walking around my '72 4 wheeler the other day, I noticed the front pass side Superwinch hub sticking out about 1/4". All of the screws were tight on it, so I unscrewed it, and noticed that the axle would slide in and out about the same amount. both the lock ring on the end of the axle and the outside lock ring were intact. Is this normal or should something be holding that axle all the way in? double lock nuts on axle threads were where they should be, so I dont know if this is a bearing issue or something farther in.

When i pulled the stock hubs out several yrs ago, i didnt re-install the spring with the Superwinch hubs. Wondering that if this was in, it would keep tension between the locknuts and back of hub assembly. Are these springs supposed to in there? Didnt say anything about that in the instruction page when i bought them.
