1.1982 F-150 has 2 tanks in it the rear tank is terribly slow to put gas in.It backs up and over flows. Please help would like to keep the rear tank filled to add extra weight for snow playing.
As far as your fueling issue goes it sounds like the vent hose inside of the filler hose has been removed not allowing the tank to vent properly and easy fix is to remove the filler hose and replace the vent hose.
Fuel problem as he said, the vent tube is missing or incorrectly installed. It should sit on a notch at the tank side and then go inside a smaller metal area in the fill side.
For the tailgate handle, there are 3 bolts on the bed side of the tailgate that hold the whole thing in. Take out those bolts then take it out as far as the release rods will let you. You then pry off the little plastic retainers that hold the rids into the holes on the handle. There are two and you will likely break them taking them off since they get brittle with age. No problem, they sell replacements at most auto parts stores in the "HELP" section for about a buck each.
Sunvisors, I am not sure since I can't see them. Either they are incorrectly installed and crammed up in there. ( Don't laugh, I see it often and still don't understand why people don't get them in right or how they can possibly do it wrong but they do. or 2.) the springs are rusted up inside from a prior leak in the windshield area.
Take out the 3 screws that hold the visor in and just drop the whole thing down and see how the spring area looks. Most times, you can just wire brush it, spray it with some WD-40 and put it back in.
Just be careful when you put it back in to get the triangle the right way so it doesn't bind up in there. Also be careful when putting in the screws so you don't pinch the headliner material or you will tear it as your tighten it back up. ( Been there, done that and have the T-shirt)
Look back around last week, someone was talking about that same problem and the answer was that you could get new parts for the hinges. (I think they said blue oval had them but I am not sure so check the old posts)
I haven't done that to any trucks so not sure what is invoved.
OK will check it out.
1.Took the fuel filler hose out didnt see a vent vent tube so I put one in I placed it at the small side of the devider went to get gas same thing happened have I installed incorrectly what size vent tube do I need?
2.Took visor out.The problem is with fliping it up or down not side to side sprayed some wd in it is there anything else I can do?
3Tail gate from what I can tell the latches will not go in unless you pull up the handle
I had an 84 f250 diesel that the rear tank took forever to fill. The diesel was even worse cause it would foam up and kick off the pump. I carried an old piece of slab firewood and would pull the rear drivers wheel up on it before filling. Parking brake is crucial. If you look underneath the filler is run flat from the filler to tank and then gets pinched even smaller where it crosses the frame making things even worse. A new filler hose may help as it may hold its shape better? Good Luck.
As for your visor, I thought it wouldn't swivel. For just tilting down, it is like a clamp on a rod. Yours is probably just super stiff from non use. I would just keep trying it ( with it not mounted. I would have it out of the truck to do this ) and then just keep wiggling and pushing and pulling until you break it loose. There really isn't anything in there that can break as far as I know. I just pulled one of my spares apart and the rod just slides in and out with no real attachment other than friction.
Not sure what you are talking about on your tail gate problem.
