Last weekend, while driving from Houston to Denton, TX I reached up to the overhead console to get my sunglasses. Made the mistake of opening the Garage door opener cover, WHICH CAME OFF IN MY HAND.
Now I'm mad. Reached up for the sunglasses cover and it COMES OFF IN MY HAND. Any one see a pattern?
Both latches snapped as I opened the compartments and the hinges failed.
Seems like the console was replaced when I bought the truck in 2003.
Question: Can I get just the doors from FOMOCO or do I need to replace the whole console?
Before you spend $75 on each door check out the price on the whole console. The one I replaced the other day was cheaper for the whole thing as an assembly than for the 2 doors. Makes sense eh?
I'm not sure what it cost exactly. I'm a tech at a dealer. I just installed it and didn't see the bill. The doors in my trick are broken and I asked what it would cost. They are about $85 CDN each my cost (dealer employee deal) and the whole thing was about $160 CDN.
I wonder if there isn't an after-market console available, one that would go right in place of the factory one. Less money and/ or better quality, maybe?
