Hey everyone,my first upstate N.y. winter is fast approaching. My truck must be a southern truck because i can't find a block heater. Can anyone tell me what is involved in installing one? thanks. Dave
Look down along side of the radiator, drivers side. Should be a 3 prong 110 AC connector to plug an extension cord into. Probably still has the cap over the prongs to keep them clean. I think it was an option in '97, so it might not be there, but not too many psd don't have it.
it was an option in 97, as long as the glow plug system is in good shape it should start down to 0's you can get the block heater from the stealership, just gotta drain the coolant pull the plug out where that thing goes in right above the oil filter its a 1" plug and thread the block heater in, use some loctite thread sealer on the threads. fill with coolant and your good to go. just route the cord on the frame rail and put some wire loom over it and ziptie it down.
