Toyo Open Country Mt Tires

Anyone running the Toyo Open Country MT 285-75- R16 tires on their F250 or F350? I watched a show the other day & Superlift said they were awesome, quiet, & the treadlife is supposed to be real good.

If so.
1) Do you like them ?
2) Are they quiet ?
3) Would you recommend ?

I run a 35" and love the tire. they are quiet. I would buy them again, I have about 10,000 miles on them and they are wearing pretty good. There are pics in my galleryof them in the exterior part.

I had 265s on my 99 F250SD for about 15,000 mi before I bought my new one. They were pretty good. Quiet, good wet weather performance, good handling. Never had them off-road or in the snow, though. The guy who bought my truck likes them too.

You may want to get on a list to get the tires now if you are lifted. Toyo is having a hard time keeping up with the demand.

I haven't heard a negative thing about them yet.....I also think they are one of the best looking tires out there. Too bad you can't get them National backorder....first I heard 30 days, then 60 days, then 30 to 90 days, and now, indefinitely. I think there are a couple of things going on. First, the quality is better than many other tires in the same sizes, and the load carrying capacity is higher than most other M/Ts so the military is using them. I think alot of the Toyos are going to Iraq for Humvees and other vehicles. Next, apparently they are building a new facility somewhere in the midwest? Once that is up and running, hopefully they will be able to get caught up. I am sure there are some dealers around the country that have some, but all you can do is start calling. I was at Belle Tire yesterday and I think they had some 33X12.50R20's in stock, but no way on any 17 or 18 inchers, probably used on the Hummers. Maybe the 16s would be easier to find. I have pretty much given up finding any until spring.

i will be getting the toyo open country AT's, because i want a good tire that is quiet but has good traction. i wont be off roadin it much, with a 172'' WB.

i looked on ebay a few days ago, i saw what i wanted- LT325/60/R18's for about $825 for four tires shipped. not a bad deal.

Have you checked out tirerack.com? They have lots of consumer reviews and you can pull up a graph of the ratings on a whole group of tires. I have the stock aluminum rims, so I went from a michelin 285x35x16 to a 265x75x16, which has a higher load rating than the 285x35. I went with a Firestone brand because it was more like a commercial truck tire and they had a decent rating on tirerack.com and the price was good. I was also looking at the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo that had very high consumer ratings, but they were a little pricy. Goodyear also has one called Fortera Silent Armor, which is supposed to have some sort of gel liner that makes the tire very quiet.

Thanks for all of the info.

From the way it looks no one in this country can get these tires therefore I am going to look for a different tire.

I must be lucky as heck then because I made the call for them an hour ago and am having them installed around 3pm today.... unless Schwab messed up on the size or something. I specified the MT when I called and the price sounds right for them.

And no surprise - Schwab messed up. I specified the MTs several times but when I showed up at the store they had a set of 4 brand new ATs sitting waiting for me

I ended up going with Cooper SXT MTs - pretty mean looking tire, similar to the Toyo MT. So for I really like them.

Sorry to hear that. I did some homework & everyone told me the same thing. You can't get them right now.

MRKnight,

I went to the Cooper website but I did not see the SXT Mt tires you are talking about. I wouldn't mind seein a pic of them.
