Unhappy No Heat - Cannot Find Heater Control Valve

My buddy has the same van - and said that the Heater Control Valve went bad on his, and said to replace it. Picked one up today, but can't find where the bugger is...

I have a 97 E350 6.7L V10, 15 passenger model.

I have the part, so I know what it looks like, but I spent 15 minutes looking under the airbox, and around the front, cant see it. Is there a trick to finding it?

Thanks in advance for any support...

I have a 1997 E-350 van with no front heat. Rear unit works fine. Front just
blows cold air. Heard alot about BLEND DOOR problems, but not on E-series. Is
there a place I should look for the problem? This is the 5.4 engine.

Correction - 6.8 L V10 - also - I pulled the doghouse this AM, and looked from inside, still cannot see it. I do see where the water lines are running into the firewall/heater area, but it is seemingly inaccessible. Is the HCV inside that area? Just moved from Orange Co., in SoCal, never an issue - now in NorCal, it's an issue, kids' teeth are chattering after the summer went bye bye!

Thanks in advance for advice.

srasay2,

I looked in the 04 shop manual and cannot find a heater control valve so either they changed the design, there isn't one, or I just can't find it. All temperature contol in the 04 appears to be based on airflow and blend door positions. The temp is controlled by an electrical temperature blend door control motor under the paasenger side dash. If you want to look into the heater core area it is accessed from inside the van also under the passenger dash. From everything I've seen you should at least have heat in the back if your van is equipped with it.

crs5357,

I think your problem may be the electrical temperature blend door control motor under the paasenger side dash I mentioned above. I haven't found any troubleshooting informtaion for it.

I thought these vans were all simular but there may have been changes prior to 04 so my info may not be of any help. Good luck sorting it
