My Grandfather gave me the 71 F-100 2WD LB Sport Custom that he drove the whole time I was growing up a little over a year ago. He had put a fresh 302 in the truck, and after 200 miles the C6 went, so he decided it was time to move on. It was pretty rough when I got it. It had been sitting in a barn for nearly two years, and besides having a bad tranny, it had a busted brake line, busted exhaust manifold, and it has some dents/dings/rust in various places (most the body damage is from my little cousin borrowing it). I trailored it home, and there it sat in the back yard until recently. I fixed the brake line, and jerked the C6 out a few months ago, and finally got it rebuilt a couple weeks back. After swapping to a different flywheel, and getting a new torque convertor I finally got that back in. I put new U-joints, and a new carrier bearing in while I was at it. Like I said, one of the exhaust manifolds is cracked in half, and the entire exhaust looks like a beehive from all the holes in it all the way back. The new headers, and turbo mufflers will be here tomorrow, and I have a 2.5" universal dual set-up showing up Friday that will exit in front of each of the back tires. I have all the trim off the truck, and I have started the body work on one side. As soon as I get this exhaust put in, and re-do a little wiring that my Doberman decided to chew up when I had the grill assembly off, it's going to get pretty hot and heavy. I'll post some updates on here periodically to let you guys know how it's going. Here's some pics of the truck the way I got it...
I have been and will continue to get most of the info I need here, so I figured it would be nice for everyone to get to watch this transformation. I should be able to get some pics of the exhaust up this weekend, and hopefully get started deep cleaning, and slapping some chrome in that huge freakin engine bay lol. Take it easy.

Thanks, but it's actually pretty rough. I think the pics make it look a lot better than it actually is lol. Yeah, that sticker is the only thing I had done when I took those pics. I got it at the Tulsa state fair a couple weeks back.

Yeah, I just realized it was a smudge last night . When I took those pics the sun was on that side, so I thought that was causing it, but last night I took some pics in the house, and it did the same thing. Did a little cleanin, and it's good as new lol.
This being my Grandpa's old truck is going to make it really special. It's giving me some challenges that I probably wouldn't have ever tried to take on under normal circumstances. As soon as the UPS man shows up, I'll get some pics of the headers on here.

Hey Jowilker, how do you get that sig to show up on the bottom of your posts?

Here's the specs...
Headers- Dynomax performance exhaust full length steel headers, 18-guage 1.5" primaries, 3" collector, 3-bolt flange. All hardware/gaskets included.
Mufflers- Dynomax Thrush Boss Turbo, 2.25" inlet/exit (I guess it's 2.25" duals. I said 2.5" in my original post.)
I was going to strip everything out of it tonight, and get the new headers put in, but it looks like it's going to be tomorrow evening before I can. By then I will have all the piping, hangers, clamps, and everything else so I guess that's better anyways. I'll post some pics of the old rotten stuff once I get it out lol.
I also have chrome valve covers, and a chrome open breather waiting to go on. As soon as I get all the sludge cleaned out of the engine bay, I'll be working on that, and getting a good intake manifold to slap on it, plus the wiring, plus the bodywork, and the interior will be stripped eventually. Man this is going to be a lot of work

looks good brandon, make sure you get a good look at those cab to frame mounts, the passenger front looks to be rusted out, that's why the fender doesn't match the door, but I may be wrong.
you will be happy with the 2.25 exhaust with the 360. it won't be to incredibly loud, but it is a huge step up from the stock exhaust. I have those same headders too, but I got mine from a salvage yard and need to refurbish them before I put them on.
good to see another Okie in the 67-72 forums!!! I can't wait to meet you in person.
Mine's actually a 302, but I also think it will sound good. Your right, the passenger mount is eatin away. The driverside is too, but it has been "fixed" with some 1/2" steel plate formed into a new mount, and welded to the floor of the cab. My father-in-law is a welder/pipefitter, so I'm going to get him to take a look at it, and see if he can come up with something similar for the passenger side. After I get that done, I'll cut away all the sheetmetal around them that has cancer, and use spray on bedliner on the whole underbody. The rust on the truck isn't too bad. The two cab mounts, and the fenderwell where the battery tray sits are pretty eatin up, but other than that it's just a couple small spots here, and there. It could be worse. I should be able to get some pics of the actual piping for the exhaust as soon as it gets here today, and hopefully I'll have pics of the old stuff, and the new stuff installed by 2-3:00 tomorrow morning
Here's the guage layout that I'm going to go with, but I'll probably go with white guages. This piece is from Haneline, but I'll probably make my own from a sheet of diamond plate. I'll run a speedo, tach, coolant temp, oil pressure, voltage, and gas guage.
Right not the plan is to get a fuelcell in the bed, and go with power buckets from a 94-95 T-Bird SC. Then I can build a nice full length console. Of course there are many things that need to be addressed before I can start the interior.

It looks like it is original, and my Grandfather was the second owner, so I assume it came from the factory that way. I got the rest of the exhaust in (delivered) today. I'm not sure how it all pieces together, but I'm sure it will all make sense after a beer or 12. Pic...
Please forgive me for not being too talkative at the moment. I just noticed a tear all the way through the rubber on one of the tires on the Stang, so now I'll be forking out close to $700 for new 275/35/18's, and that money has to come out of the truck fund .
Here's some pics of the Stang if anyone is interested...
