Springfield MO 10/28/05 - gas = 2.09, diesel = 3.09. Saw diesel at one place yesterday @ 2.99. The MO Attorney General has distributors very nervous about excess profit margins so give him a big hand!
Wish I knew what the future pricing will be like. I've read a few DOE, EIA, and other reports but it's inconclusive. They do seem to think that for 2006 diesel will be 30 cents higher than gas on average. Demand in Europe is part of the reason, and simple supply and demand is the other. I haven't found anything on the subject of the low sulphur diesel that will be here soon and whether that will raise cost. Even stilll, diesel can be 90 cents/gallon more than gas and I at least break even with diesel (including extra oil change costs & using DFA) vs. say a 3V V10, based on realistic mpg breakdown for city highway, and towing for both. The value of the diesel pulling power over gasser tilts the scales, but that is another subject for another forum.
Virginia Beach, VA gas as low as $2.29, cheapest diesel $2.55 but prices have been steadly dropping this week, I paid 2.69 and the next day it was 2.55.
KC MO diesel dropped 30 cents in the last 48 hours. Right now it's 2.79, Regular unleaded is 2.12.
Manager of local QT store tells me he heard from headquarters it would go down another 25 cents in the next week.
Now I have absolutely no idea if he was really told that, or even if he was if it will in fact go down. But for this week anyway, I'll take a 30 cent drop.
