I purchased an '01 and was told by dealer that I should have a factory code to reset keypad and can't find the factory code in owner's manuel. There are several small decals with some info on them, but none say what they are for. Where do I find this info and what will it look like. Getting keyless entry to work would be beneficial for me because my wonderful and sweet wife has bad habit of loosing keys, etc... Thanks for the help.
I would try any five digit number that you find on a sticker in the manual. I bought my X used, didn't have the number either. Do a search for "keyless entry", you'll find a lot of ideas where the code is hidden. Me, I had to have a wiring harness replaced at the dealer, so when he cleared the codes I had him get the master number off the computer. Otherwise, folks say you might end up paying 50-60 bucks to get the dealer to get it for you. Good Luck, it is nice to have it.
i never found mine, looked everywhere i was told to plus had whole truck apart to put in tv's and system never seen it. my dealer pulled it for $13.and some change i was blown away another dealer told me it would be $85. it takes them 5-10 mins so see if your dealer will break it down like mine did. not charge for an whole hour!
just for kicks, i bought my 01 X about 3 weeks ago. the dealer pulled the number for free and it took about 2 minutes and then told me the procedure to change the code is in the owners manual. even after the code has been changed, the original code will always work.
