I have a question regarding the weep hole on the water pump. My 95 F150 302 sometimes leaks coolant on the driver side of the engine behind the water pump. It runs down the front driver side of the block right by the oil pressure sensor. I assume it is coming from the weep hole. Does this mean my water pump is going to have to be replaced? Its almost brand new. Is this a common problem? If so, can it be remedied easily or not?
my 94 had a water pump leaking out of the weap hole so i changed it out then my front cover gasket started to leak.i should of changed them both at the same time.its a few hours more of your time but its worth it.i also put in a new double roller timing chain just because i was there.
If its really coming from the weep hole, then the packing around the bearing is gone. You said that you'd just recently had the pump changed. Did you replace with a reman pump or a new pump? I've had reman pumps fail quicker than they should. Also, check your fan clutch. A bad fan clutch can cause premature failure of the pump.
My new edelbrock pump leaked because of a little gap in the timing cover. It leaked at the bottom of the surface between the pump and cover, behind the damper. You may want to just take the pump off and re-install it using good gaskets and silicone. You can replace the gasket between the impeller and plate on the pump, as well as the gasket between the pump and timing cover.
