box swap

ok will a '77 2wd box fit on a '77 4wd frame??

Welcome. Yup, the box bolts right up. I just did the same swap with a '78.

depends if you have a earlier 77 "highboy" (divorced transfercase) the rear frame is narrower than the late 77 (married tranfercase) the 2wd all had the wider frame

the 4x4 I bought(and nolonger have) had two sets of holes drilled in the box because of exactly what plowpusher said

ok it has a married transfercase its a early 77 i think and its a 150.that will help my search for a box some thanks

I beleive that I have a '77 box from a F150 on my '76 F250 because someone drilled new holes. I use the old holes for drains. LOL

'73-'77 1/2 F-250 4x4's and all F-350 4x2's all had a straight 34 inch frame, therefore the bolt pattern in the bed is narrower. All other trucks had a "flaired" frame with a 38 inch width frame under the bed/box.

So, if your '77 4x4 is a 150 or a later non "high boy", yes they will swap without mods, if it's an early 250 "high boy", then it is not a direct bolt in, but it can be made to work.
