I'd like to do this conversion on my 1990 F-150 with a 302 and speed density. The part number for it is 'FMS-M-9000-T50' at summit if you care to look it up.
But I had a couple questions. It says it includes the ECM (EEC-IV), Mass air flow sensor, wiring harness, hoses, clamps and brackets. But do I need anything else? It lists injectors as one of the things with a yes/no answer and it says it doesn't include them.. but does that mean it needs them? I just need to know so I can do it all at once.
Also; a few people were saying because the mustang gt computer was put in some wiring changes had to be made? I'm just confused because I have the original truck computer and apparently that's whats put in from a stang.. so would it run fine with them just switched no wiring changes? because I really don't think the wiring was changed. And If it was is that going to screw this swap up? How can I tell..
The kit takes care of all the wiring changes that need to be made with a simple plug in harness. The stock injectors on your truck work fine with the conversion kit. The kit comes with an '89-'93 mustang 5.0 computer. If you are unsure of the wiring of your truck, I would start testing wires and pin locations before installing the kit. If the wires are already changed, you'll need to swap them back to the truck pin locations for the kit's overlay harness to work.
For the most part the wiring functions are the same, but a few are different. The main difference is the fuel injector wiring - the mustang has 8 wires and the truck only uses two control wires. If a mustang computer was just connected to the truck harness, it shouldn't work, but I've never tried so I don't know exactly what it would do.
I know that and I said that earlier (see reply #5)! The kit is plug and play because it takes care of the wiring with the overlay harness included in the kit.

I read through this just now and they do mention the kit I'm looking at, but they don't use it. I went through the installation and they have to do a fair bit of wiring changes..
Just double checking, but the overlay harness included in the Ford Racing kit should eliminate the need to screw with the wiring, no?
One other thing I noticed is in the picture of the Ford Racing kit it looks like there's only 6 injector connections rather than 8.. hrm..
