My 1999 Powerstroke when first stated smoke real bad blue/white smoke. If your stomp the gas pedal it smokes real bad. When its warmed up it only smokes at 2000RPMs and then clears out. Help??!!
More info would help, like how many miles. howlong this has been going on, any lose of power. anythingyou can think of. but at first i would think injector o rings.. check your fuel filter does it look black.?? J
My '99 smokes a little at startup also. I think its because it sleeps all week long, until I get a chance to drive it on weekends. My guess is seals or rings are bad. I wish I could drive it everyday but with an hour drive (one way) and a 35mpg Protege' its hard to!
if it starts smoking white smoke, ur not getting enough fuel. probably a plugged filter. we had a tractor just shoot out white smoke and there was a lil screen inside the tank by a hut off vavle that was plugged. let me know if that helps
I just bought the truck a month ago. It has 131,000miles. I took it to a diesel shop and they ran a injector test on it. They replaced #8 with a new one. It helped but still smokes. It cuts out at 2000rpm also, with smoke.
Sounds like you have a bad glow plug(s) or bad glowplug relay
The relay can be checked with a test light. You should have power at both large terminals,( the red and brown wires), with the "wait to start" light on. If you have power at the red but not the brown, check the smaller terminals for power. The smaller ones are the triggers, and the large red is constant power. The brown wires go to the glow plugs
sorey on the injectors I missreadyour post and though it was smoking while it was warm and while you were driving.. Mine smoked soobadly on start up even in the summer I rplaced the GPR and if I leave the key on just a little longer it hardly smokes at all now J
