I will be putting a 460 in my 79 FWD which has the 351C motor in now
I want to use the two wheel drive gearbox and bolt it to the transfer
case on the FWD. but I have heard that the bolt pattern is differant
can it be done regards from down under
Markmte, the NP435s I have seen have one of two patterns on the back, and they are differant for two and four wheel drive. One of the pattterns has the middle two of 6 bolts pinched farther in, the outside 4 bolt holes look the same, but I haven't measured them. But if you are putting in a 460, you will need a differant bell housing anyway (differant from 351C). the NP435s usually have a pattern on the front that is 8 1/2 inches wide and 6 1/4" tall. What tranny is behind the 460 now, and what is behind the 351C ? DF
HI the 460 was out of a lincoln but it has a two wheel drive NP behind it out of a 69 f100 fully over hauled thats why I want to use that gearbox.the 351c has the NP BEHIND IT NOW but it is a FWD BOX
BUT IT IS A BIT WORN.I thought all you had to do was unbolt one and bolt the other up. could I change the case use the guts of the good gearbox in the worn one.
The bellhousing is made in aussie to mate the 460 to a NP.
thanks Mark.
