I searched through the site with no definite answer, so here goes.
I would like to replace the flimsy in-dash (pull-out) cupholder in my '99 F350 with one of the newer in-dash cupholders that work better. So, I need to know the following:
1) What year did the new cupholder come into use?
2) Will any year after and including the first year fit my '99 truck?
3) Will the newer ('05 I think) style exterior handle (which I like) still fit my '99 truck?
I'm told if I get the correct unit, it only requires the removal and reinstallation of four (4) screws to make the swap.
Yes, you can replace it with any cupholder from mid 2000 (march I believe) through 2003. You cannot replace it with 04 or 05 as I believe the dash opening is slightly different. If you have the grey interior the part number you need to order is YC3Z 2513560 CAD. It costs about $53 retail. I've seen them go for a little less on ebay or elsewhere online but with shipping they run about the same so I just got it from my local dealer.
I plan on putting together a quick how to of this swap with pictures as I just did it last weekend. I will post in this thread again when I get it done.
Holy cow! I really need to call my dealer. I noticed three on ebay. One that is the older style front (but newer internals) in a dark brown (parchment?) going for $46 and a newer style squarish exterior in light tan for $52. But the one I wanted (older style exterior with new internals) in tan is $108. Yikes! Thanks for the help though - I was about to buy the newer squarish style as it looked neat.
Well peoples I finally figured out how to creat a gallery, so the cupholder pics and instructions are in there under cupholder upgrade. It is a really simple job that pretty much anyone could do in about 15 minutes. I actually trusted my dad to do it.......Just kidding thanks pops.
i did the same thing...no more mopping up drinks off my floor anymore! i pull away from the drive thru and oh theres my drink on my FLOOR! but not anymore! i highly recommend this "upgrade" even though its kinda pricey for a small piece of plastic and little bit of metal.
