Any of you ever have a problem with clutch fluid dissapearing from your master cylinder??
My '91 2.3L 5 spd. (M5OD) (140k miles) is doing this---however I never find any fluid leaking from it. Perhaps the slave cylinder is taking a turn for the worse??? If so---where is all of the fluid going??? I usually have to fill it up every week during the warmer months---but now since it's cold, I've been filling it up practically EVERYDAY!
Any suggestions? Where to look? What to look for? What to do?
my old 92 did that too. it started leaking fluid from the slave cylinder. you should be able to look up inside the bellhousing by taking off a little rubber plug (peak hole) and see if it is wet. my leak was fast i filled it atleast once a day if not twice.

So did you have to go ahead and replace the slave cylinder??
the slave in my 03 went a few weeks ago. it went all at once and the clutch fluid was dripping out of the bellhousing. if you are having to replace the clutch fluid everyday then look under your truck towards the front of the bellhousing, if it has been leaking this long it should be wet. it is most likely your slave from the sound of it. definatly replace it.
My 90 Ranger did that too. If everything is dry, including the line going to the tranny, then likely your slave cylinder is leaking. Mine showed no evident leak until I removed the tranny and exposed the slave cylinder. If your slave cylinder is like mine, it's concentric to the input shaft on the tranny, which requires tranny removal. You might as well change all the clutch parts while the tranny's out. Also, if the tranny's like mine, (and it's 2WD), at the aft end just above where the drive line connects to the output spline, there's three rubber plugs. Replace them because they have a tendancy to harden and then leak. They're cheap from the dealer, but I've heard of someone on FTE putting in something like a metal freeze plug too. It's a lot easier job with the tranny down. I think these holes are used for 4WD transfer cases.

STan
yes i replaced the slave cylinder. it sucked, i had a really hard time getting the quick coupler off (there is a special tool that you need to get put it didnt work so good for me) so i just cut the hose. i pulled the whole trans out to do it. i think the dealer wanted over $100 for a knew line so i just spliced it back together. since then my dad and i put atlease 12k miles on her and still working fine. the slave cylinder was like $100.
