what transmission??
What standard transmissions came in a '79 F-100 2wd with 302? I can't seem to find a straight answer on this? Did they come with 4 on the floor or just three on the tree? I know the 4x4 came with 4-speeds, but what about the 2wd's?? Thanks!

I had an 79 2wd F100 w/302. It had the 3 on the tree. Because the truck had some options such as power brakes and steering I would guess that the 3 on the tree is the lowest and as such the "standard" option.

My Dad's 79 F-100 had a 302 and the three speed with overdrive on the floor. Wouldn't pull anything but got awesome gas milage. He never had any problems with it but many people say they were junk.
