this probably has been answered here but here it goes. I have an 88 F-150 that I have to disconnect the battery every time I take her somewhere. I turn the ign.switch to the off position but it still has power going to my p/w and radio. What would cause this problem????? also I have a dummy switch to start her up with cuz I can't start her with just the key. Any help would be appreciated.
Your linkage in the column is broken. This is a very common thing with these trucks.
The real electrical ignition switch is mounted on top of the column, under the dash. There is a rod that runs up the top of the column, under the plastic covers, and goes up to the keylock mechanism where you put the key. There is a gear and rack, and another little piece in there that break all the time. Tear it all apart and fix that, and I bet it will work fine.
Beware: Steering columns are not too fun to work on, but have some quiet un-interrupted time, and a steering wheel puller, and you can do it.
What did you get? If you got a page with a bunch of garbage on top, and then a paragraph in the middle, read the paragraph and then click on "click here".
