an 87 f-150 short bed straight six four speed safely carry? I think it has 3.55 rear end.. I was lookin for a numerical number? But i was also wondering in terms of cargo? Like mulch? gravel? or 4x8 sheets of 1/2" plywood? Is there A rule of thumb by looking at the springs to tell if the load it okay? I have always thought if you still had some spring travel left, and the the front end wasnt higher than the back you would be okay? What do you all think? I am just trying to figure out the limits of my truck and figured where better to ask, so anybody??
The limits are governed by the tires more than the suspension.
You may be able to put 1500 pounds (example only) and the springs may not bottom out. But the tires are probably not rated to carry that much weight. Look at the door sticker. That should have the weight ratings on it. Then look at the sides of the tires. See what they are rated for.
