Has anyone switched over their truck from an Auto to a standard? If so, what problems did you encounter? What tranny did you use? I have a '79 F-100 2wd, 302, c4 tranny. As far as I can tell I would need to find a tranny, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, and all clutch pedal linkage. Is there anything I may have missed?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-May-02 AT 09:55 PM (EST)]To a manual:
Drill a hole in the floorboard for the clutch rod.
Clutch spring & cable from the rod to the trans.
Change out the neutral/reverse light switch.
Steering column (if you don't mind having the auto shifter hanging off, go ahead and leave it in).
If you want a NP435 trany in the 302, forget it. You'll have a hell of a time trying to bolt it in!

why is that? I've run a NP435 a T-18 and a toploader behind the same bellhousing on my 360, the T-18 came from a straight six so I cant see why you couldn't bolt the NP435 right up it seems like all the bigger transmissions bolt to the bellhousing the same...

the 3 speed, and SROD from my 71 Stang also fit those bellhousings..
wouldn't the only difference be the bellhousing? and I thought the straight six and the small block had the same bellhousing, If that's the case then any straight six with a 4 speed bellhousing would be enough to make it work...
