I have a 74 F-250 Highboy with a 429 engine 3spd w/overdrive manual (stick) transmission and a divorced transfer case. I would like to rebuild the transfer case because it seems to have a lot of play in it. I have never rebuilt any tranfer cases before, but have rebuilt a number of engines. First problem is, how do I idenify which transfer case I have? Does this thing have a chain in it or is it gear drive? Second, does anyone sell a complete rebuild kit or will I be forced to buy parts seperately? Mostly interested in replacing all internal bearings and seals. It leaks gear oil pretty bad. I don't know whats wrong with this thing! It only has 350,000 miles on it!
