I am thinking of ways to be a little differant and would like to channel my 55 f100. has any one done this that could give me some info on the project or where I can read up on the best way to go thanks for any input you can give me, Don
I would purchase the video that Ron Covell has on Chopping and Sectioning. It is a step by step "how to". However, keep in mind that he has many tools at his disposal that the normal home garage doesn't have available such as English wheels, plannishing hammers, etc. Although it is sectioning rather than channeling it may give you some food for thought.
i dont think it would be to diificult. cut the entire floor out. lower the cab onto the frame at desired height, weld it back in...the bed i would cut notches out of the front panel and lower it to. you would have to raise the bed floor but you could aways use a bed cover,
Yeah, it sounds easy but don't forget the rear notch on the cab will need to be moved "up" and the front clip mounting at the front of the frame will need attention or the fenders will have to be sectioned.
Forget the "sectioning" comment. Just the front attachment will need modified.
Since the 55 is already channeled over the frame, what would you gain by going deeper? Unless you are building a 55 cab rat rod with no fenders or hood would this make any significant visual difference over lowering and possibly Zing the frame behind the cab if you want to raise the bed.
