My door handle sags badly, so I took it apart and the part that the square handle shaft seems to be totaly worn out.I have many Ford pickup cataloges ,but none list this part.Do you guys know where I can find one or a company that rebuilds them.Thanks.
Hey wheels, I will try to help you solve this one. I have a 52 with the same problem, however, that is the least of my concerns with my F-1 now. Can you post a pic of the part you are looking for. I would think that even though the square shaft on the handle and or lockset may be worn, a tight spring may keep the handle lifted. I will look for handle parts tomm. SUN, 22nd. Have a good one, Monte
I didn't do a good job of explaining the part thats worn out. It's the door latch itself, the part the handle shaft goes into, the handle and shaft are fine.I'm sorry but have no way to post picture. Thanks again.
Go to www.macsautoparts.com and do a search for B6C-8181818-A that part is for a 53-56 truck not exactly the same but is that the part you are looking for? If it is email me privately using christopher at ll.net. I have a set that I purchased and would be willing to sell them to someone that has an need for them.
I've had the same problem with my '49 F-1 & have not been able to find any aftermarket or rebuilder to do them All I've been told is to try bear claw latches & retro fit the handles with rods or cables to actuate. i've also been told that chevy springs from the same years work but that doesn't answer the overall latch problem. A simpler solution sure would be welcome!!!
