Does anybody have a ballpark idea what it costs to have a 4wd truck put on a dyno? When I finish my engine, 400 c.i., I would like to get it tuned on a chassis dyno.
Sorry guys, I guess I worded the first part of my post poorly. I meant a ballpark price for dyno tuning. Probably charged by the hr., since the timing, A/F ratio, and such would be adjusted while on the chassis dyno. I would probably do this after about 500-600 miles on a new rebuild. If anybody happens to know, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks, and sorry if I confused anybody.
Speed Engineering in Tenn. charges: 3 pulls-$65; 5 pulls w/ wide band A/F ratio-$100; hourly-$150; diesels 5 pulls $80. Found them on dragstuff.com-a really good site.
I've had my 95 on the dyno 3 times. First was an initial pull, analyse computer activity, no actual tuning, $150. Second time was that plus install of the chip. Getting at the computer is time consuming, mustangs are much easier, but they gave me nice breaks on their normal hour charges. They normally charge $100 an hour and were pretty light on their hourly charges. The chip cost $400 but he charged me $350 because I was there once before. Last time I was there (11/9) he charged me $100 for 3 hours of work, including a re-tune (yanking the computer again) with about 5-6 dyno pulls. Charged me $100, bringing the total to $550. Cheaper than doing it myself w/o all that work.
His normal rates are $75 for 3 dyno pulls w/ A/F...or you can rent the dyno for tuning at $100/hr with their assistance.
Dallas mustang does $55 for three pulls. 2wd only. You get hp, tq, rpm, a/f ratio, and the tech will tell you the spark info. You can do 3 at one time or come in on three different days and make a pull. Tuning is by the hour at... 100 per hour I think.
