Well, my 4 wheel drive was working yesterday but, when I pushed the button today, I got nothing. Reset the control module behind driver's seat and still nothing. I am wondering if there's maybe a fuse between the 4 wheel "on/off" switch and the module or transfer case engage motor. Unfortunately, the crappy Hayes manual I have neglected to include any components of the electric 4 wheel engagement systems in the electrical system schematics. I have no owner's manuals nor is the fuse-box cover there, so I'm lost.
Any one know which fuses are in the circuit or can point me in the right direction to trouble-shoot?

Ah, it is an 89' Bronco XLT. The control module is getting power and will "reset" if you push the reset on the side, but when the "4x4" button on the dash is pushed, nothing happens. This is all of the sudden, because I was running it the other day and it was fine. So, I am wondering if there is a fuse in the circuit between the 4x4 switch and the control module - acutally, I'm not sure the 4x4 button controls the module or if the module is a secondary circuit off of the transfer case motor. This is the wiring diagram I can't find. I would think that the 4x4 button tells the transfer case shift motor to shift into 4-wheel at which point the motor converses with the control module as to how to do that. However, seeing the circuit in a diagram, it is just me guessing. The autozone diagrams are copies of the, incomplete, diagrams in the Hayes manual.
Yours might be different, but the only fuse on an 87 is number 6.
This and a fuse link are both wired to the control module.
From the 87 shop manual heres how to self test the control module. Remove the 5 & 8 wire connectors from the control module, turn ignition switch to run Activate the self test switch, a flashing indicator lamp is good a solid lamp is bad.
From reading other posts I believe the most common problem on these are dirty electrical contacts in the shift motor.
