My dad has a freind of over 40 years who owns a major architecture company. He has a position waiting for me when i get out of college paying right around $200,000 a year. I am working there now as a kind of mentorship thing and i get 15 bucks an hour... so finances arn't the most important thing to my right now...but thanks for looking out!...i just want to know what performacne mods to add to my truck.
And I'm not looking for a race truck just a truck to beat the stangs, and ricers around town. and maybe a vette or 2..lol...but more importantly something i will have fun in and something that will last!
LB51, not to be noisy, but what position could pay $200K right out of college? I would assume that some years of experience are required before you provide a "value" to an A&E firm.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to put you down, but I see hundreds of college grads in my line of work, I deal with Architects and Engineers. I could not pay a new hire that kind of $.
He knows the work i do...I've won various design contests for my work. I am diligent and a good student. 32 ACT, and 1540 SAT and a 3.9 GPA. I work there now helping out and helping the other architects. Most at the firm are paid more than that, truly i would propally start at 100,000 a year and move up but still out of college, what do i have to worry about with that much money coming in...I understand ya'll trying to help me with finances but dont worry about that....All i want to know is what to do with my 5 grand i saved and that is it...

Unless you are planning on racing the truck which you have said you don't intend on doing, there is no point in spending $5,000 dollars on it. Any mods past about $1500 start becoming custom applications. There isn't $5,000 worth of "stuff" on the market that you can use in conjunction with each other on one of these trucks without serious custom application.

Buy a tuner, some gauges, and an exhaust system.
hey LB51, psd is one of the most mod crazy people around and i really agree with him on this one.
You say you want it dependable and too last so don't go crazy.
Quality exhaust, tuner and gauges and really maybe a intercooler if you wanna grin when you look under the hood i dunno.
Remember in this day and age most dealers and FORD will hassle you for so much as exhaust system and gauges. Turbo's , diff injectors, injection systems just aren't worth it in my book until out of waranty.
How about spending 2K on performance and the rest on suspension, stereo and exterior accessories since you're so hell bent on spending $$$
If you need some help you can donate a $G to my truck fund and i promise to put it to good use.
I would wait a year and buy the 07 with twins cuz its gonna kill you to dump $5k in extras when the new model is almost out.
You guys kill me.....its like "I won the lottery, How do I spend every cent right now?" I say take your time and make the right choice. Take your Mom and Dad out for dinner.....then maybe an annuity thats not real aggresive to be safe.....then maybe some tunes and a moon for the truck. Oh yeah...you better pick up a pair of shoes for the ole lady too!
From what I've been hearing the 2007 arn't going to be all that grand. the only thing they are uping in the performance department is an extra 20 horsepower...and from hwat i have seen from the pictures they dont look differnt at all!
hmmm, heres a performance idea. It'll cost less than $5,000 (more like 2-3K max), it'll preserve the longevity/integrity of your truck, and will void no warrenties.
Buy a 1985 6.9 IDI with a c6
Drive it around 1 day a month.
your 6.0 will seem alot quicker/stronger
In college, I spent all my money on booze and broads...the rest I just wasted.
I would get gauges, a tuner and call it a day. You can use the rest to replace the tires in 20K miles and at that time you will have spent over $5 grand in diesel fuel at the current prices.
Best of luck in college! Are you sure about architecture?
Buy some stock in Toyota or short some shares of GM and Ford because once Toyota starts selling their Super Duty Diesel trucks heads are going to roll.
