Ok Someday some time will will have an fe of some kind in something, Not shure yet on displacement but i am wanting info so maybe i can slowley gather parts. So I am wanting any and all suggestions on building an fe. I know this can be very oppion item so try and keep it open. I could be insterted in strokers aftermarket heads, etc. I am not to worried about carbs, and cams but rather who or which crank is best, pistons, rods, rockers, etc. Also who is a good source for parts? I am insterted in mild to wild because i dont know where my build will end up. but it does need to run on pump gas preferbaly mid octane but i guess if push came to shove i could go for the really high doller pump gas( i.e. avalable at the gas station) so specs of previous builds, part supplyers, stuff to watch out for good and bad, and any other hits suggestions or other. Also on strokers are there any way to build a stroker like uses this crank and these rods with pistions from here?? Kind aof home made? thanks

cbfomoco, I have my new build listed in my gallery, It was built with dependabilty, mileage and fun in mind. Just check threw the past listings and you will find a build you want.
If you decide to build a stroker, you can order the entire bottom end: Crank, rods, pistons, rings, and bearings at the same time from a variety of sources, so don't let that worry you.
From my standpoint, it's hard to beat a stroker for almost any application except extreme RPM. If you use a 360/390 block bored .040 over you get the following displacements with the most common strokes:
It's all about what you want, and what you can afford. An all aluminum 526" Dual turbocharged SOHC FE with electronic fuel injection and distributorless ignition would be cool, for about $40,000. But for this price you get 17mpg, 1000+HP, and gobs of cool factor.
what is the results with different stock cranks and bore? I e. this crank and rods get this?? thanks
There is really only one factory crank over the 390. That's the 428 crank. Yes, it uses the 390 rods. It'll give you a 416 at .030 over, and a 418 at .040 over, and a 422 at .060 over. People do it all the time.
one thing to add....it's good to slowly aquire parts because it motivates you and makes you feel like your getting somewhere.......but when you do this over a period of 6 months, a year or more and then go to assemble. You might find something is defective or does not fit or you have the wrong part. At that point it is sellable at a loss at best....if it is defective you've taken a big loss.....
On the other hand buying stuff on ebay as they become available can save you a lot of money....good luck....get ur plan togeather and shop wisely...
I personally wouldn't waste my time or money on a factory intake when the aftermarket is reasonable for a replacement.. you can pick up a edelbrock streetmaster on ebay for anywhere from 80-150 bucks about 2x a month it seems like... here's a good site for some FE info...
