If one is currently available does anyone have the part# for the LOCKING gas cap on an 05 Lariat Screw? I am told there may be 2 different styles and only 1 will fit my Screw. Does anyone know how to tell which one is needed. I do not want the dealer or local parts supplier to order an incorrect part...
Do you know of anyone in central Ohio who has them in stock?
Thanks for your knowledgeable replies.
Due to Federal Safety Regulations it is darn near impossible to siphon gas from a tank anymore. There is like a check ball valve that prevents the tube from being inserted.
If the locking cap is to prevent theft don't worry about it. That is one of the reasons why locking caps don't come from the factory anymore.
Bigger problem is guys punching a hole in the bottom of the tank to steal the gas.
Now...if it is to prevent vandalism...well...that's a good idea.
All that being said...I just bought a locking cap off ebay. Mainly because I didn't know what I just told you prior to buying it. Wasted $18...
the big thing here is to cut the line running off the tank and use a hand siphon pump from walmart and steal the gas. at work they steal gas form at least one truck a week like this.
I have an 04 F150 XLT SCAB and this part number was the OEM locking gas cap for my truck.... FC-993/4L3Z-9K163-AA. I paid 16.27 tax included. It listed for 29.58. (wifey works for Ford
This is another part number for a locking cap, but I believe it's a Ford generic for many other F series trucks.... FC-1000/YU5Z-9030-AB
