Ok... stupid question... How can I tell the difference between the 5.0 and 5.8 engine? Does the engine have it printed on it? I just got into a 1987 Bronco. I know its a V8, but I'm not sure about the size.
The easiest way is simply look at where the water pump goes into the block.
If there is no space between the top of the entry into the block and the cylinder head it is a 302............if there is aprox. an inch betwwen the head and pump you have a 351.
The early EFI engines don't have the displacement on the plenum. DOHC Marauder posted the easiest way to tell them apart.
Also, a 302 is 9" between the heads, a 351 is 11"

Yep, the taller block is the 351W.
There should also be an engine code on your build plate, drivers door jam unless someone removed it, or there's been an engine swap.
