Fuel Lines

I am trying to replace some bad fuel line and change the connections to the fuel rail. My problem is softing the plastic line to slip over the brass and plastic barbs.

I hope someone can give me some tips or tell me how to connect my plastic line to the brass and plastic barbs.

Thanks for any and all advice.

stick the end in boiling water or warm it up with a hair drier

Plastic tubing type

Thanks cpettymore7777. I have acquired some discarded scrap plastic gas line tubing and let set in a coffee can of boiling water for 10 minutes, but would not go on the barb. I also tried a hair dryer ( maby not a hot enough one ), still no luck. I am thinking maby I should go out and buy a hotter hair dryer.

Any more tips or tricks?

Thanks

sctrt

Note::::::

Is there a certin type or brand of plastic gas line tubing that would work better than another and where could it be purchased.

I use a heat gun same pricipal as a hair drier but gets hotter. Works great on that shrink tubing for wire connections.

you can also lightly grease the barb before trying to slip it on, I have used a light brasing with a propane torch before aswell in other applications like underground waterlines.

Thanks for everyones help. However I must be the only dumb cluck out here because I am having large troubles putting my tubing on my spring lock connectors. Boiling water in a can did not work. Had some luck with blow gun by heating brass connector and metal connectors. It seems to be very touchy. Going out tomorrow to buy some more plastic line.

Any more help or suggestions?

Thanks

Try soaking the nylon in a solvent like acetone or laquer thinner.

Buy yourself a heat gun like Dungeon said. But don't use it on your hair or you will become a candidate for the hair club for men. It's worth having in your tools, you will discover many other uses for it.

Thanks again for all the help. I am beginning to have some success and many failures. I will address my findings here when I have finished and everything seems to be working right.
