Help - 02 Explorer 4x4 lights flashing and abs light is on
<!--StartFragment -->
Hi,
I'd be grateful if anyone had some knowledge on this.
I bought this vehicle used less than a year ago and the ABS light has been on continually. I was told that the ABS was really fine but I just needed to have a Ford dealer service person turn it off because of some error but i never looked into it anyway because everything seemed fine.
Now along with the ABS light on steadily the 4x4 high and 4x4 low are flashing at sporatic times together simultainiously. It feels like 4x4 maybe trying to activate but i cant tell really. There is some extra noise going on but I dont know if this has something to do with that or just because i need brakes (which i do).
I've read all I can find on it and to me sounds like it maybe speed sensors. I'm going to do a brake job today and inspect the speed sensors but if anyone knows anything more i'd appreciate some input.
Should I maybe disconnect the speed sensors and maybe clean them up while im doing the breaks, replace them? I dont know. My last vehicle was a 89 Ranger I owned for 12 years and never had to deal with these things.
Thanks
