Ok I have a 2004 6.0 PSD,running a predator on 100hp setting and gauges and a 4" exhaust turbo down.ITs been running this way for a while now no probs, anyway The truck starting acting crazy, its automatic trans but it starting upshifting to quick and down shifting instead of up shifting. Then when you get on the throttle and let off it down shifts, then some slipping, also when I go in reverse the truck started bucking, then the tow/haul mode button started blinking. So I down loaded original backup and took it to the Ford dealer, they said they found metal particals in the trans .Anyway ford sent a rep down to see the trans about warranty work and they saw my exhuast rightaway and denied my warrenty, now the dealer says in his opion its not worth rebuilding better to change it and thats about $4500.00 not including labor..I have 34000 miles on the truck now and out of work for a year cant afford that or a lawer..please give some advise..thank you..OH P.S the build date on engine is about jun 2003 but its a 2004 model thanks again for any advise,Ray
You modified the engine to produce more power than Ford designed the transmission to handle. It broke. What did you expect? They are well within their rights to deny your warranty.
Try going after the companies that sold you the mods, most likely with the incorrect promise that it wouldn't affect the warranty. They were wrong, maybe they will pay for your trans.
even though you modified your truck, this does not give them the right to cancel your warranty. tell them to give you this in writing. if they do, then call a lawyer. most will at least look at your case for free. if one decides to take it, then they can recoupe their fees via ford. there is also a warranty act that is suppose to protect your rights as far as upgrades and mods. do a search on this forum to find it. follow the instructions of the warranty act and take that to your dealer.
if this fails, Casey is right, you did do the mods, and unfortunately this type of thing happens when you try to get more out of a truck than it was designed to give on a daily basis.

it is the M and M warranty act. it does not even apply here. that act just states you can replace parts that function the same with non oem parts. thats all. won't cover you here.
Cowboy up, then look at the bright side.....It could've been a set of head gaskets or a complete motor. It is so easy for a Ford rep to tell if you've hot-rodded your truck it's not even worth debating.
I'm paraphrasing here but basically on the very 1st page of text of the diesel warranty supplement book it says the powertrain isn't designed to handle extra power and adding boxes and such can cause serious damage.
I feel your pain as I've been there on the dodge side of the house to the tune of over $6,000 in a replacement trans (due to an Edge EZ 50hp box). The moment you strap a box/chip to your rig and start cranking out that kind of extra power you have become your own warranty station. Again, I feel bad for you but you should have zero beef with Ford.
Eventually most folks (on a normal buget) come to realize that bit of extra power/bling isn't worth the financial pain that eventually comes with it. Look at the bright side
Good luck to you in the future.

Are you guys saying that putting a 4" exhaust on a PSD is not worth it? I can understand the chips and increasing the motor HP and torque to amazing levels can do damage to your other components.
I am considering putting a 4" exhaust on mine.
