Air filtration

Called my local diesel shop here in Denver to find out some recommendations for after market air filters and he recommended the True Flow filter for my 04 6.0. Does any one run this filter? Also I don't drive in alot of dusty conditions, and I have heard about the problems with the AFE stage II. I need a filter that will give me the most "bang for my buck" especially when towing my fifth wheel. Does any on have any suggestions?

Just curious, I've got 1800 miles on my first diesel. I had a V10 prior to this one. I'm impressed with the size and arrangement of the air flter on the 6.0L. I ran a K/N type (Banks) on the V10 but with the restriction gage on the diesel, I didn't consider the need for an aftermarket. Banks doesn't even provide a different filter for their 6.0 kits and I believe they would if greater performance would be had with one.

Take care

Stock.

Best bang for the buck is to do a good job of shopping for the factory filter element IMHO.

There are aftermarket filters that claim to flow a little more, but filtration in the report that I read is not as good as stock.

I too, would recommend an OEM filter. The Donaldson design is the best performance/price/protection filter available. Others sware up & down by their aftermarkets, but I can't get them to pay off soon enough, and the protection IS less the OEM, so the turbo warrenty is in question if a problem arises.

Where & how I drive, it would take me 180,000 & 5 years to pay off an AFE stage II progaurd 7, and that's the only one I feel has enough protection for my truck.

Any performance gain due to an aftermarket filter and/or intake ocurr at high RPM's (look at their sites and brochures). They happen around 3,000 rpm's and I never run my motor that high.... so stock is the way to go and enjoy your truck!!

Save your money, stay stock and spend you money on synth oil, guages, coolant filters.... stuff that really does make a difference.

I have to concur.

You are better off spending your money modifying everything within sight OTHER than the air filter.

If you want some "bang for your buck" for towing- buy a tuner
