I just got a well kept 97 F-350 PowerStroke with the E-40D tranny and the C-5 axle. 213k miles. It runs well, with plenty of power, but the tranny could shift more crisply. No slippage, or signs of failure, tho.
First, is there a solid chip that works with such an old engine?
Will it improve mileage?
Will it make the shifting crisper?
Will it increase wear out of the transmission?
Is there more than one option?
Has anyone here added a chip to an older PSD, like mine? what is your expereince?
I read in another of your recent posts that i should resolve the downpipe restriction first. I have a 97 built in Nov 97. It has a V for the 10th position in the Vin- so, doe that make it a 97.5 and if so, what was improved with that mid-year product change?
there is a lor of options available for your truck. no your miles arent too high. and it could very well help in taking out your e40d and yes lose the stock dp. come and hang out i the obs forum 94.5-97 psd. is your truck a cali truck or federal?
