EGR problem
I recently replaced the EGR valve on my 91 F250 351. I had the motor running with the new valve installed before I connected the tube and I noticed it was drawing in air even at idle. I thought EGR was supposed to be closed at idle, or is it normal to have a small amount of draw all the time? It does not cause the check engine light to light but idle is a little rough. Perhaps I just got a new valve that was defective. Anybody else ever notice this.

There shouldn't be any air passing through at idle. Make sure there is no vacuum at the line to the valve. I have gotten new bad parts before. Take the valve off and try to blow through it, it should not let air go by.
