Just wondering what you guys and gals think the mileage will be on here. I'm hoping Ford sees that the current power levels are plenty for what we need, not that more isnt always nice. But that mileage is the new issue on peoples mind. I'm hoping they will gear the engine and truck all-together to get better mileage and hopefully gain market share.
I too would like to see 80mpg...but I don't see that happening in the near future. 17-18 is a little low though don't you think? I mean, with this new twin turbo system, I'm hoping for a realistic 20mpg around town, and a little better on the hwy...am I way too optomistic? I want to be able to see better mileage then my '96 7.3L, and she gets pretty good mileage right now!
True, it is much heavier, and certainly doesn't have as much power. Lets look at the 7.3L in the SD. I see an average of 18 in the city and even better on the hwy. That's where I was coming from, and I definately see where you're coming from, so we will have to wait and see I guess!
If FORD does not hit 22mpg Highway...then that is a shame. I know a guy who has an 01 cummings and gets 22mpg right now. Should be MORE efficient...if not...then why bother??? Heck...let the aftermarket have the fun with the twin turbo's, etc. for performance. FORD should be putting out more efficient vehicles...with better reliability. (focus areas...)

JMHO...
biz
biz, with 900 posts under your belt, you should know it is Cummins. Just giving you a hard time. No matter what the mileage is, i'm sure it will be better than the 8-9 i'm getting now with my 6.8l. Of course i'm rolling on 37s w/ a CC LB, but i'm sure with any diesel (7.3, 6.0, 6.4) i would be getting better mileage.

Ya right...I sometimes have to re-think myself when it comes time to speak Dodge... (ie: two steps back...one step forward)
V-10 = 8-9mpg...ouch! Hope you have stock in the petro industry...at least you can get the money back when it is time to retire.
Just get a 'roo bar
I haven't hit any in my SD(I only drive during 9 and 4, the quietest times). My dad hit a turbo-chook though in his ute though (a "cough" Nissan)
I tell you what - not having speed limits rocks...
Pity the other state I live in doesn't have similar laws.
