Any one know if the speaker outputs on the OEM 6 CD changer HU requires seperate (isolated) neg. feed?
The outputs to all four channels have there own pair (+ and -) to each speaker.
I would like to install a headphone jack, which would require combining the negs on the front or rear left and right speakers.
Only reason I ask, is because I know some units require that all speaker feeds be seperate (+ and -), and that is how my van is wired.
Thanks, -Rob-
most changers or accesories ive seen do require their own ground, the reason... noise... if you run a ground and a power wire near each other for a distance, u will get noise. this is prolly the reason all vehicles use a frame ground. Its also alot better to have as short a ground an as little resistance as possible
Well my factory speaker wireing does not use the frame as a common ground. There is a wire pair (+/-) going to each speaker from the head unit. Now whether they are hooked to ground in the HU, I don't Know.
What I would like to know is if I can connect the left and right speaker neg wires together (not ground them) as required for a head phone jack. Some head units don't allow that.
