Hey, I have just purchased an 05 CC PSD, and I am trying to plan a good design for this truck.
I would like to lift the truck no more than 6" and run 20" or 22" wheels on offroad rubber.
I am having a hard time finding photos or info on such a setup, so if anyone has any to share maybe I can get started soon.
Here's a pic for ya to check out. We get this question alot, so I tried to make it easy for folks. Not the exact setup you're talking about, but it'll let you see what it might look like. Also, here's a link to a recent lift thread that we just did.
What is your style? Are you going to want Off-Road tires, or Street tires? 22" wheels are not as popular on SD's. That would mean that they are more unique. But, it also means that there are not as many choices in 22'' as there are 20''. Dueces are also a lot more expensive than 20's. Look around in the Gallery, there are a lot of different flavors of Super Duty's on there!
I have Weld velciti 8 20 x 10"s with Nitto Terra Grappler 305/55 R20 tires. It is a good look. They are about 33 x 12.5. No lift just a F-250 cc with snow plow leafs and the 4" spacer blocks in the rear. This setup improved my on road performance (cornering) and off road traction. The only negative - lost about 1 mpg. I switched from 3.73 to 4.10 gears with the V-10. If you do get rims make sure the backspacing is right for your 2005. I see a lot of 2005 trucks with the wheels sticking too far out b/c the wheel belong on a 99-04 SD.
