Need data label decoded

I have the VIN decoded but I need the data label decoded. Here's what I've got:

Trans: T
Axle: 19
Spring: B X
Type: F152
Date: 05/85

the rest of the info I understand. This truck is a 1985 Ford F150 XLT Lariat with a 5.0L EFI engine. I have lloked at the tag on the differential cover and I get 3.55 gears on an 8.8 rear end.

Thanks!

Maybe take your codes to a Ford Service Department and ask them if they can decode it for you.

But not when they're busy.

Just an idea.

Trans: T = Automatic 4 speed (Ranger)
Axle: 19 = 3.55 Non-LS
Spring: B X = 5310 spring (Econoline, F-150, F-250) and 5560 spring (Ranger)
Type: F152 = F150
Date: 05/85 = manufactured on May of 1985.

I can only tell you what the spring code or spr code means the first letter or digit represents the front springs coils, or leafs and the last letter or digit would represent the rear spring. we use this code to look up and differenciate springs using a Spring Research Institute to find out which spring you have 2 1/4, 2 1/2, 3" wide #of leaves, thickness and bushing sizes,D

I believe the trans code of "T" for the 85 F-150 is the AOD, or Automatic Overdrive. The axle code "19" is an open Ford 8.8" with 3.55:1 gears like stated. There is a decoder in the tech articles if you do a search, may help you out.

I was looking for a replacement leaf springs on my 1975 Ford F150 4x4 short wheel base. I know the springs off a 1973 thru 1979 F150 will interchange. I am looking for any newer truck leaf spring that will fit my truck. Which other year of truck, model, and year will work as a replacement for my springs.

unfortunatly there is not a standard spring for a f150 after 1981 there are many different combinations 2 1/4, 2 1/2, 3" wide, diff # of leaves with varying thicknesses, different bushings at front either 9/16 or 5/8 id, always 9/16 id at the rear. with the length you have to measure with a tape along the inside curve of the main leaf and you have to measure from the front eye to center bolt and from the center bolt to the rear (offset centerbolt) ....hope that helps anyone trying to find replacements from the wreckers, etc. if buying new just tell spring shop year and spring code front digit/letter for front spring, rear digit/letter for rear spring. this is found on the bottom right side of the id tag on driver's door post on trucks after 80/81...D

My 83 Ford Spec book shows the VIN doesn't show the axle code, it's a code on the bottom right of the build plate.

I don't think the vin has that info on the differential(s), etc.

As srercrcr said, it's on the build plate (Truck Safety Compliance Certificate Label) usually located on the drivers side door opening; at least on my 81 F150.
