Most of these ads come out of magazines of the era like Life, Time and Saturday Evening Post. If you go to farm auctions or other auctions containing items from older people there are usually boxes of old magazines, they usually go for $5 a box. Look through the mags, you'll find ads for everything, radios, appliances and cars. There are people who collect ads for everything. The guys on eBay who sell the ads on eBay just razor blade the ads out and sell them for $3-20 each. Not a bad profit.

Noticed ad says "power boosted brakes". I never realized that was an option on these trucks. Anyone have any pics of the set up? Joe
the i noticed that which made me insterted. i have been thinking abot adding that to mine, and the power steering too. no pics if someone has a parts manual and can scan it, it has a digrame of it but not instuled. as for the power steering it was a big truck option which is coverd in the regular repair manual and has its own for 54 as well. oh the powr steering is kind of the same set up as the cars ( power cylender and control valve) but i think the size is different and the control valve is deffently different. the booster mounts under the cab and is a hydrovac unit eather by midland or bindix ( i think depending on the size of the truck) now if only disk brakes were an option.....
also does anyone know what if anything ford called power brakes or power steering? I think later it was master guide for power steering but does any one know on brakes? the only thing i could find was swift sure power brakes. but that may have been car too?? i dont know. thanks

There is a 1956 dealer brochure in the reference material on Earl's World that has a small illustration of the power brakes on Page 10. It doesn't say what the option was called by the marketing folks.
Isaac got the name right on the power steering - Master Guide. There's a short discussion of that on page 33 of the brochure, but no illustration.
