2000 ranger ?????

Help...

I usually lurk over in the diesel forum, but now I am having problems with the wife's truck. 2000 Ranger V6.... Running rough at idle. Pulled code using my diesel tuner and got "P1000" anyone know what this means??? The programmer asked me if I wanted to clear codes, and I did, However code returned when scanning again. Will a bad battery cause engine to run bad if the alternator is working??? Seems to idle ok until you turn the steering wheel?

Any Ideas.....

From 2000 Ford shop manual.
NOTE:
Only perform this pinpoint test if a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1000 was received from Continuous Memory. Ignore any DTC P1000s in KOEO or KOER.

If the load on the alternator is high it might effeect the voltage.
