302 conversion help PLEASE

Hey guys been a long time since I posted....anyway I have a 1967 bronco well it doesnt look to broncoish but of well. Theres no body no original sheetmetal or anything just a mess of tubing and some seats. What I am thinking is to rip all the crap ive put on it (roll bar, makshift body, staight six/tranny) and biuld a trail/mud rig. I want to put a 302 in it if possible. I can get a fuel "infected" 302 out of I think its a town car or somthing for 100 bucks that runs mint. This rig will be a VERY low cost project to clarify. Some of my questions are, besides the intake/carb what else do I need to switch out to run a naturally aspirated engine? I have a 4sp tranny that is a spare for my 73 with a 360 and is there and way I can throw that behind the 302 I dont know if it bolts right up or what. Thats all I think of right now but thanx for any help.

That tranny won't bolt up. You might be able to switch bellhousings though. you would stiil need to get a clutch-flywheel combo that would work.
Here most of the things you will need to convert to a carb.
intake, carb, electric fuel pump, distributor, igniton- points or electronic, Relays for the pump and distributor. fuel pump shut off- incase of an accident.
The relays and the shut off I got off a '90 Crown Vic. at a junkyard for 10 bucks. Shut off is in the trink on the driver's side. There's a set of 3 relays under the hood on the driver's side in a plastic box.
If the town car the motor is old enough it might be TBI. You could luck out and find a carb that fits.
Good luck

Ok let me see...I have a stock 4bbl manifold, and a dist. off a 289. To make it a mech. fuel pump I need a cam from somthing that had a mech pump right, if so then Ive got a 289 cam but I dont know if they are the same. I forgot to say Id need a bellhousing and clutch but to anyones knowledge is there a bellhousing that will allow the 4sp to bolt up?

The mechanical pump won't work. The hole in the timing cover won't be there on an EFI motor. The boss is there but it's not cut out for a pump.
The cam will fit.
For the bell housing and clutch you need to know what model 4 speed it is to be sure. For the tranny part you might have better luck posting this over at classicbroncos.com

You can't use a 289 cam in the block because the base circle is too large.

You don't need the cam you need the drive eccentric for a mechanical fuel pump and a timing cover with a boss for a mechanical fuel pump. You will take the timing cover off, remove the bolt from the cam drive sprocket, place the eccentric on the bolt and then re-install the bolt.

If you have a boss for a fuel pump on you timing cover you can re-use it, if not you need a new timing cover.

If you use the 289 distriutor you will need a hardened gear installed on the bottom to use with the roller cam or the cam will shred the distributor gear.
