I'm asking this on the Super Duty Forum because I think it is a SD, it's just a E350 SD. I sent my 2004 E350 to Quigley Motor Company for their 4x4 Conversion. I have a couple of F250's and F350's and I thought when I got the Van back I would be able to use the Wheels/Tires from the pickups on the Van. The bolt pattern isn't the same, 8x6.5 vs 8x170. Is there a way to change out the hubs of the Van so that it will have the same bolt pattern as the pick-ups? It would just make life a lot easier. They use the same weight rating on the tires and it even appears that the sizes should be almost the same. It's just nice to be able to have a couple of sets of different tires mounted up (snows, highways, all-terrains) for different types of driving.
According to their website. QMCI's 4x4 system consists of the same Ford components as used by Ford in their 4x4 F-Series trucks. We incorporate the same axles, transfer case, rotors, brakes, calipers while retaining the original factory springs. To this we add our Quadra link torque arm suspension.
If your van came back with non F-series components I would be on the phone asking questions. I am considering one of these 7 passenger Chateau models but will definitely ask that question before I do.
Because the Vans come stock from Ford with an 8x6.5 bolt pattern they revise the F350 front end to match the stock rear end. If I had know this I would have had them not modify the front end and would have purchased a set of "bolt pattern changing" wheel spacers for the rear. The rear axle is narrower than the front anyway and it would have given the Van a wider rear stance. Live and learn..... They did quote me a price to return the front end to 8x170 and to supply the rear wheel spacers but it was over $2000. Just wish I had known a little more about the conversion before the work was done.
This company is a great one and we are very happy with the Van. It's better than any of my pickups due to the weight distribution so I still highly reccomend them. There is one gentleman there that isn't so good though and if you can avoid him, you should try. His name is Mario something and he seems to be the sales manager. He is absolutly hurting that company. They have a great product and could be selling twice as many if it were not for him. He's just an "old fart ancor" on the company. Wish Quigley, the owner, could see that.....
