Question cleaning stock cd player

I have a 1997 Ranger with the factory single CD player. Lately, it has been having more and more trouble with burned CDs, especially as it gets closer to the end of the disc. Static, which gets progressively worse eventually moving to skipping and then eventually won't play at all. Many of these CDs used to play fine in the truck, and still play fine in other players. Prerecorded CD's seem to still play fine. I'm not ready to buy a new CD player yet, but I would like to clean this one. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Thanks,
Ian

There's a disk you can buy at Walmart, or any store pretty much. It has little brush looking things glued to the bottom of the CD, then you just put it in and play and go by the directions.
