Im new to the site. I have just purchased a 2005 Ford 150 super cab 4X2 and I am looking for a bed liner and a tonneau cover. I live in Staten Island NY. Anyone have any suggestions on which one to buy and which one not to buy. I was looking at the plastic liner for the bed and the roll up tonneau by Shur-co. Thanks, John
Hello- Welcome to FTE! I have moved your post to the specialized forum we have here for your question. Check out the list of tech forums we have here. There is a wealth of information and expertise here to help you. There are a number of links in my sig below to help you also. Have fun!
You just spent a buch of bucks on your new truck. Don't go and put in a plastic bedliner that moves around and scratchs the bed of your truck. It will hasten rust, not protect the bed. GO with a proven liquid liner professionally installed like LineX or Rhino. I just got (August) an '05 F250 CC Long Bed and had it lined by LineX. Looks great and is warrantied all over the US. I had a '92 F250 that was Rhino'ed and never had a problem with it. LineX is applied hot, Rhino cold. Take your choice.
I also installed a Peragon Aluminum Folding Retractable Bed Cover...priced somewhere between a fabric and a fibreglas cover. I like it as I don't have to keep taking it off and putting it back on like I did with my fibreglas cover on my '92. And a knife won't slice it open either. If you aren't good at DIY, you may want to look at something else. It was kind of a pain to get it installed so it would fold and open easily, but many adjustments later, it finally worked.
Second the Line-X over the plastic liner. I just bought an Undercover (brand name) cover for my Ranger. Hopefully it will be in by this weekend and I'll get to see if its as good as I hope it to be.
i'll put a third here on linex or rhino. up in north west jersey all i could get was rhino it's still 1000% better then a slip in. as to a bed cover i favor westen . parts if needed can be had over night from almost any where. and they stand up great to weather and wear.
good luck with that new ride , esp on S.I. new york.
