transfer tank question

I have a question about using transfer tank as secondary tank. What would the most efficient way to use the l-shaped tank with switch so you could pull from secondary tank. And is there a fuel pump that has to be placed inside that tank to just be able to switch over when primary tank depleted? Thanks.

The simplest way is to have an external transfer pump that refills the main tank. That way you don't have to mess with a second fuel pump, feed line, return line.

I found this fitting on the Northern Tool + Equipment web site

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatDsp?storeId=6970&N=106+148&Ne=2

Click on the image for a description.
It says that it automatically controls flow by gravity from the auxiliary tank to the main tank, and there's a manual shutoff too. For $60 its a bargain compared to a powered pump.
I haven't tried it. If you do, let the rest of us know the results.
Warren
PS: You have to copy and paste the web address to get to the right Northern Tool web page. Otherwise you get the home page and have to hunt for the fitting. WSN
