It just so happens that I am about to attempt to CLEP a couple college courses in the next few weeks. I figure now is a good time to do it, as I am only taking one online course (through Strayer) and will be increasing the load next quarter to 2. The resource center at my local campus gave me the name of a good reference book that comes with several practice tests and even software to practice the online versions. CLEPs thru Strayer are $75 total ($55 for the test and a $20 sitting fee...). Of course, I can CLEP through the navy free (not sure about retirees, though). Here's a link to a site that lets you practice the CLEP: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/...clep/prep.html
Think I'll download it tomorrow...
I CLEPped my math and science courses back in '73, and it allowed me to concentrate on my major. I really wish I had done the English and history too. I felt like I was going to H.S. all over again....BORING! If you know the material, why pay to learn what you already know?
I looked into CLEP around here- but you pay the same for a CLEP'ed course as if you actually took it. Saves time, though. At 52, I'm thinking about finishing my degree, and I could probably CLEP a lot.
